Excerpt:
She was a beautiful little thing, a petite blonde with a
shy smile, delicious curves, and legs that caught my eye the
moment she strolled into my domain. I seldom had visitors
here while I worked—never clients. Not here at my home
office, which was a refurbished guest house at the back of
my property. But I was pleased to see she was right on time.
As I rounded my desk, her gaze dropped from mine to run
over me, from head to crotch, with a measuring slowness that
stopped me in my tracks.
“Hello,” I said into the silence. “Mrs.
Carmichael, I presume?”
Her long lashes lifted to reveal a priceless pair of emerald
eyes, kind and hopeful. “Yes. Justine Carmichael.”
She wore a simple two-piece outfit. The top was a burgundy-colored
silk blouse that buttoned up the front and tucked in at the
waist. Her hips were encased in a form-hugging skirt that
stopped at the knee, a few inches too low for my taste. But
the high-heeled pumps were attractive, as were her smooth
calves, her well manicured hands, and that flawless skin beneath
her diamond stud earrings.
Her hand was soft and cool to the touch. “Thank you
so much for agreeing to see me on such short notice.”
I would always be willing to see her. In fact, I struggled
with the very male urge to drop my gaze below her chin and
attempt to see all of her. I secretly envisioned what she’d
look like out of that outfit. With a smile, I released her
hand. “What can I do for you, today, Mrs. Carmichael?”
“Please, call me Justine. You’re my last hope.”
That raised one of my eyebrows, which made her smile. She
had a nice smile and a way of surprising me. I kept silent
and waited for her next move.
“You are a master…hypnotist, right?”
Ah. So that was what brought her here. It wasn’t my
day job, but I’d studied the subject, so the title fit,
and I was more than willing to play along.
“Yes.” My mind conjured up a vision of her entranced
and under my complete control. I kept my expression blank,
sincere, and void of the excitement that radiated through
me at the possibility of such a precious flower falling into
my grasp.
